RONALDO HITS ANOTHER MILESTONE

Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has reached yet another milestone in his already success laden career as he notched his 500th club career goals when his club Real Madrid defeated Club America 2-0 in a semi-final match at the on-going FIFA Club world cup.

The goal poacher had endured a rather frustrating outing in Yokohama for much of the game, rattling the post with one header and somehow missing a gaping goal when unmarked inside the six-yard box. He kept on trying and his efforts was finally rewarded in the closing minutes of the encounter when he latched onto a clever pass from Colombian teammate James Rodriguez and slotted in past the helpless Club America goalkeeper. There appeared to be some kind of confusion over whether the goal would stand or not, as the match official checked the video assistant referee system for a potential offside, however, replays showed Ronaldo had timed his run perfectly.

The Ballon D'or winner had been stuck on 499 goals after he failed to score in club football's biggest game, the El-Classico at the Camp-nou, and also failing to break his duck in the recent 2-2 home draw with Borrusia Dortmund in the last group match of the Champions league at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu.
