Elegbeleye, others Dump PDP for APC

The immediate past Director General of the National Spots Commission[NSC], Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party[PDP] with well over 5,000 of his supporters across Ondo State to the All Progressive Congress [APC]

Elegbeleye, a former member of the House of Representatives on the platform of PDP, told reporters yesterday that the party has now been occupied by an "army of occupant" making it difficult for it to play its role as mainstream opposition party effectively.

Among those others who defected to the APC from PDP include the former Chairman of Akoko Southeast Local Government Area, Mr. Ojo Victor, a former senior special assistant to governor Olusegun Agagu and Olusegun Mimiko, Mr. Muyiwa Asagunla and a former House of Assembly member, Mr. Thomson Atikase.

Elegbeleye who was a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP, said he jettisoned his political ambition in order to support the candidate of the All Progressive Congress[APC], Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, to achieve success in the upcoming governorship poll in the state. He added that Akeredolu ranked above other candidates for the election, having served as attorney general and commissioner of justice of the state, and as a former president of the  Nigerian Bar Association[NBA].
