Lawyers threaten to shut down Cross River Community

Baring any last minute intervention by the Cross River state government, lawyers working in the state Ministry of Justice, may embark on an industrial action beginning from Thursday the 17th of November 2016.

A notice to that effect which has been transmitted to the head of service, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, gave the reason for the planned action as non-approval of a scheme of service for the law officers in the ministry.

The letter, which was dated November 1, 2016, and signed by two officers of law officers' Association of Nigeria[LOAN], Eneji Amajama and Moses Nkwo, Chairman and secretary respectively, said since government was unwilling, unprepared and unconcerned about giving effect to the harmonization policy in favour of the lawyers, a strike action was inevitable.
