FOUR PERSONS SENTENCED TO DEATH BY HANGING IN OSUN STATE

An Osun State high Court presided over by Justice Kudirat Akano, has sentenced an octogenarian, Mr. Olufemi Fagbemi, Tobi Ojo, Famutuwa Femi and Tope Olatunji to death by hanging. The convicted persons murdered a middle-aged man, one Mr. Jacob Ajayi for money ritual on April 13 2012 in Ilesha.

Fagbemi, a herbalist, was said to be the ring leader of the gang. After killing Ajayi, the convicts cut off his head and dismembered his body. The convicts were charged with two count charge of conspiracy and murder contrary to section 324 and 319 of the criminal code cap 34, volume 2 laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002. The prosecuting counsel from the state ministry of justice, Mr. Abiodun Badiora told the court that the convicts committed the crimes on 13th of April 2012, as the convicts conspired to kill Mr. Jacob Ajayi for money ritual.

He further revealed that the body of the deceased was recovered from the septic tank [soak away pit] while his genitals and part of his leg has been removed.

In his plea, counsel to the convicts, A.O Oluwole charged the court to temper justice with mercy. In her judgement, Akano found them guilty on the two coun preferred against them and sentenced them to death by hanging.
