RIVERS RERUN POLLS:We will humiliate our enemies, says Wike

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, at the weekend, alleged a plot by the enemies of the state to cause violence during the December 10 rerun elections in the state, noting however, that they will be disappointed after the rerun. He said:the enemies of the state were back to cause problem in places where the election would take place, but that despite their negative plots against the state, they will all be humiliated.

The governor who spoke during the 2016 super Sunday service at the Christ Apostolic Church in Emohua Local Government Area of the state, urged the congregation who later prayed for him to pray for peace in the forthcoming rerun polls. He said: I have to formally inform God that the enemies of the state are back. The way they were humiliated in 2015 and March 19 2016, is the same way they would be totally humiliated in 10 December 2016. Pray for peace in the forthcoming rerun election. The governor added that the resources of Rivers state will always be used for the people of the state, vowing that, Never again will Rivers resources be used to sponsor national politics. We will not take our money to play national politics," he said.

Rivers is a christian state, and we owe nobody an apology for that. I want to reiterate our commitment to setting up a special intervention fund  for churches to take care of their members who are in need. At present, Church leaders are fine-tuning the details for this special fund, which we believe will further unite the church." the governor said.

The Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi had during a rally in Bera, Gokana local governmet area, faulted the remark by Wike that the PDP would win in Ogoni in Rivers South-East senatorial district, where senator Abe is seeking reelection to the senate. Amaechi said Wike should not even think about winning in Ogoni because he would fail, saying that the APC enjoys support of voters in the district, adding that where the contest exists would be in Ikwere and Ahoada areas.

But Wike responded that the APC had been rejected in the state as Amaechi only wanted ti incite violence and cause disaffection among the people of the state. The minister challenged the governor to equal his achievements in Ogoni land or supersede them, noting that the support he enjoy in the district stemmed from both developmental projects he cited in the area and the appointments he gave Ogoni when he was governor. He said: If there is one place that the APC should win, it is definitely Ogoni. But Wike says he must win here. He is not God, and since he is not God he will fail. The battle is not here at all.
